Il co-fondatore dei Rage Against The Machine, degli Audioslave e dei Prophets of Rage annuncia l’album “The Atlas Underground”
Il leggendario musicista Tom Morello – co-fondatore dei Rage Against The Machine, Audioslave e Prophets of Rage – sta per pubblicare la più grande sfida di tutta la sua carriera: l’album The Atlas Underground uscirà il 12 Ottobre 2018 via BMG, già disponibile il pre-order. Due tracce del disco, We Don’t Need You ft. Vic Mensa e Battle Sirens ft. Knife Party, sono disponibili da oggi.
Morello, che ha collaborato nella sua carriera con la maggior parte dei mostri sacri nel panorama musicale mondiale, da Bruce Springsteen a Johnny Cash, ha voluto con The Atlas Underground aprire la strada a un nuovo territorio sonoro, costruito grazie alle collaborazioni con artisti di portata internazionale – come Marcus Mumford, Portugal. The Man, Bassnectar, the Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA and GZA, Vic Mensa, K.Flay, Big Boi, Gary Clark Jr., Pretty Lights, Killer Mike, Steve Aoki e Whethan, per citarne solo alcuni – trasformando il suo sound in qualcosa di cui nemmeno lui poteva avere un’idea, mescolando alla perfezione i riff rock Marshall, la magia digitale dell’EDM e l’hip-hop.
Tom Morello è stato il curatore della registrazione, ha personalmente scelto e si è messo in contatto con ogni singolo artista per coinvolgerlo nel progetto. “The riffs and the beats led the way, but the extraordinary talents of the collaborators set my creativity into uncharted territory. I’ve been devoted both musically and as an activist to fighting injustice at every turn”, afferma Morello. “Amid this heightened sense of impending doom, it’s now time to rally the troops in a last-ditch effort to save the planet, and our artistic souls. By challenging the boundaries of what music is and has sounded like before, you can open peoples’ eyes to changing the status quo in society.”.
Realizzato in più studi situati in diversi continenti, Morello si riferisce a The Atlas Underground come “a clandestine sonic conspiracy of artists working in disparate locations toward a shared goal of creating a new genre of music.”
I testi spesso assumono la forma di “social justice ghost stories” e in brani come “Rabbit Revenge” ft. Bassnectar, Big Boi e Killer Mike e “Lead Poisoning” ft. RZA/GZA, viene data voce alle persone meno fortunate che non riescono e non possono farsi sentire.
